We Are Born Free

We Are Born Free is a documentary that aims to provoke discussion and action from those of the African diaspora by sharing the will and vision of African-American expatriates, TaNesha Barnes and Jalaal Shah-Taylor who are actively building Mwasi Global Community, a black-centered colony in Marrakech, Morocco.

The film uses a combination of still images, original and archival footage, social media posts, interviews, and animation to paint an honest picture of what it means to build community, as well as the historical importance of freedom colonies.
